Customs Information for All Arriving Vessels

Foreign Vessels Arriving in US

1. Call Us Customs Service in Houlton, Maine (207) 532-2131 x 255 as soon as vessel has an ETA to Marblehead. Do this, before you reach Gloucester MA. The Customs officer will request a cell phone number so that a local Customs can contact the boat. Also when you call Houlton,  the Captain should have all passport info, crew
info, and vessel info on hand so the process will go quicker.

2. The vessels can call the local US customs office when they are arriving in harbor.  (978) 921-0782.

3. All crew must have a passport.  Foreign passports must be valid for an additional six months from the date of entry

4. Fill out US Customs Crew List Form I-418.

5. Fill out US Customs Vessel Entrance or Clearance Statement Form 1300.

6. Have ships documents available for inspection. (The ship’s registration)

7. Foreign vessels which do not have a 2009 US Customs User Fee Decal, there is a $19 foreign vessel entry fee.  ****    Must be paid in US currency!

8. Any persons not from the USA, Bermuda, Canada, or Mexico need a Visa prior to entering USA.  This will be very expensive for any Captain not having a Visa for those that require one.

Historically, the US Customs agent has been at the BYC twice a day: 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

 

USA Vessels Arriving in Canada

1. All crew must have a valid Passport.

2. Fill out NEW CREW LIST with all information and submit it at onshore Registration at the BYC

3. Have ships documents available for inspection. 

 

USA Vessels Returning to USA


1. All crew must have passports.

2a. For those boats wishing to first visit Maine ports, call US Customs Service in Houlton, Maine (207) 532-2131 x 255 prior to entering port. The earliest ports for US Check-in, with shorter wait times at the first two, are :

-          Bar Harbor, Maine
-         
Portland, Maine – State Pier ONLY
-         
Lebec, Maine
-         
Belfast, Maine

2b. For those boats returning to Marblehead, call US Customs Service in Houlton, Maine (207) 532-2131 x 255 when your vessel nears Gloucester, MA.

3. When nearing the harbor vessel can call local US Customs at 978 921-0782 (this is NOT instead of step 2b).

   a. Customs may meet you at your dock.

   b. Customs might have vessel go to their Central Examination Station (Gloucester).

4. All US Vessels must have a 2009 US Customs User Fee Decal on arrival.  US Customs form 339V.  Apply on line ONLY.   http://www.customs.gov/xp/cgov/travel/pleasure_boats/user_fee/user_fee_decal.xml.

5. Fill out US Customs Vessel Entrance or Clearance Statement Form 1300.

6. Have ships documents available for inspection. (Ships registration)

Other Information

1. All crew US members, both delivery and racing, must have a valid passport.
 
2. Canadian Customs is scheduled to be open 24 hr.  at the RNSY for this event. 
 
3. Non-US passport holders entering Canada, either racing or delivery crew, must check individually whether they need a Canadian Visa prior to arrival.   This responsibility for knowing and getting a visa ahead of time will be theirs.   If the BYC Gov't liaison members are contacted directly and with proper timing, we will be glad to provide assistance.
